Do you know anyone that plays with, or otherwise has made, a homemade pickleball paddle? If so, the homemade pickleball paddle probably violates the rules of the sport of pickleball.
Rule 2.E.8 of the 2020 Official Rulebook for USA Pickleball provides that only commercially made pickleball paddles are permitted. As a result, pickleball paddles that are not commercially made (in other words, pickleball paddles that are homemade) are NOT allowed.
